Local Artists At The 2018 Tim Hortons Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival

Friday, June 01, 2018

The Tim Hortons Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival has a long and growing history of showcasing many artists from the National Capital Region including: A Tribe Called Red, Half Moon Run, The Balconies, Jeremy Fisher, and Jim Bryson who have all stepped foot on the Festival's main stage. In celebration of the 25th annual festivities the festival is proud to have Amos The Transparent, Craig Cardiff, Gianna Lauren, Hollerado, Old Man Grant, Rebelle and Rory Taillon all grace the Rideau Carleton Raceway Casino Hillside Stage.

Amos the Transparent

Kalle-mattson-1

Amos the Transparent is an alternative/folk/rock group from Ottawa. You might recognize their music from the hit Canadian show Degrassi, CBC Radio One’s Q or Sirius XM. They have toured with renowned acts such as Sloan, Jeff Beck, Tokyo Police Club, Patrick Watson and many more. They are returning to Ottawa to perform at the 25th Tim Hortons Dragon Boat Festival. They are no stranger to the Hillside stage though, they have performed back in 2014.  They are currently working on releasing their sixth album “Anniversaries” this May which is a tribute to their 10 year anniversary! We are all excited to hear their new music this summer!

Hollerado

twin-flames-1

Recently returning from being on tour with Sum-41 to help promote their newest album “Born Yesterday” Hollerado is coming back to the Tim Hortons Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival to take the stage for a second time!  The local group from Manotick has been busy the last few years releasing two since their first performance at the festival and being nominated for multiple Juno awards including “Best New Group.”

Rebelle

kasador-1

From Wakefield Quebec, this small town group has come a long ways in the music industry. They have been in the finalist portion of CBC’s searchlight and have won Live 88.5’s Big Money Shot. This Indie rock group have toured throughout Canada and is hitting the Tim Hortons Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival stage this year for its 25th year. With many positive reviews such as this one from George Stromboulopoulos of CBC “So in sync, that they're the kind of songs that make me want to go see them live, and when it comes to a rock band today, that's all I'm looking for.” We are more than excited to hear them live at our festival.

Rory Taillion

half-moon-run-1

Rory Taillion takes the stage at the 25th Tim Hortons Dragon Boat Festival for the first. His newest album “Only Whispers” was released in 2017 as he toured the east coast of Canada to promote it. Having an independent label, it is quite inspiring the work accomplished by him. Producing and booking for himself, Rory is a force to be reckoned with. Being featured on CTV, Global and Canadian Music Magazine is nothing short of impressive, we are thrilled to have him perform this summer.

Gianna Lauren

half-moon-run-1

Gianna Lauren is an alternative/pop singer-songwriter from Ottawa. With the recent release of her third and newest album “Moving Parts” she is ready to take on the stage at the 25th Tim Hortons Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival. Her music being deemed “ambient, atmospheric, warm and lush” there is no doubt she will fit right in and send the crowd into a swoon.

Old Man Grant

half-moon-run-1

This Ottawa born group is a mixture of bluegrass, folk and blues which makes for an undoubtedly unique sound. Having started from their living rooms and dive bars, this group has come along way. This summer, Old Man Grant is looking forward to connecting with audiences as they travel coast to coast, placing the songs off their upcoming album through trial-by-fire. We are delighted to have them preform on the Hillside stage for the 25th Tim Hortons Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival.

Craig Cardiff

half-moon-run-1

With an impressive 16 albums, Craig Cardiff has toured North America and Europe gathering quite the following. He is a Juno and Canadian Folk Music nominee for his song writing and has also appeared on CTV. Craig is known for getting personal with his audience, he always tries to get his crowd a part of the performance. That kind of intimacy makes concerts that much better.
